Project for a typographic installation created taking a piece of Gabriel Garcia Marquez book
One Hundred Years of Solitude, where happens that people in Macondo lose firstly their memories and then their capability to read and speak because of the "insomnia plague".
We designed 2 tyfaces starting from DIN MEDIUM, that gradually change until getting unreadable, to give the idea of a gradually loss of the language.
The installation is a close long building, with a long dark passage that brings in a room: it's a typographic space that involves people inside the loss of memories where on the 3 walls, left, front and right, is projected a video split in 3 parts. The video is an animation of sentences from the book using the typefaces we designed.
Project realized in collaboration with Mariarosaria di Gregorio, Enzo Ruta and Nicolò Loprieno during Typography Lab with professor Leonardo Sonnoli.
