Inspiration Seeker
MA thesis (2007) - Introduction
The objects we collect and use for inspiring us, have different features such as color, shape, smell: if we go deeper, discovering their meaning, thinking about the person who gave them to us, for instance, we link to them different subjective values.
Inspiration Seeker aim is to use this subjective meanings as a source of inspiration, allowing the user to search virtually through keywords and then, through the system, to locate them in physical space if they are nearby.
This thesis project is focused on designers who collect objects and materials, toys, pieces of paper and any kind of stuff: how can they be catalogued, searched and how share inspiration connected to them?

The research
For the reasearch I've been observing 3 designers' studios: Studiocamuffo in Venice, Designwork in Udine and Invicta in Treviso.

I used two research methods:
1. in-depth interviews about work organization.
2. space observation and objects placement.

Three important points came out from this research, which helped me to focus my design work:

1. Need to leave objects where they are, without moving them: even if the workplace seams to be messy, almost every object location has got a meaning.
2. Offer the possibility to catalogue not just objects but images from books and magazines as well.
3. The cataloging items process needed to be fast and intuitive: people at work has got no time to catalogue and search for things.
